RICHMOND — A small fire near its Richmond station caused BART to shut down service in all directions to and from the station for a brief time Friday, the agency said.

Service stopped between the Richmond and El Cerrito del Norte stations around 1:40 p.m. after the fire near the tracks. Trains on the Richmond, Fremont and Millbrae lines were affected.

BART put out an advisory at 2:04 p.m. that the stretch of tracks had been re-opened. They announced the service shutdown at 1:41 p.m.

Fire crews put out the blaze.
