SAN JOSE — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a sport utility vehicle in the Willow Glen area Friday night, authorities said.
The collision was reported about 6:53 p.m. at Curtner Avenue and Briarwood Drive, according to San Jose police Sgt. Enrique Garcia.
Garcia said the pedestrian, identified only as an adult female, was walking across Curtner when she was struck by a 1998 Ford Explorer traveling eastbound on the same street.
The driver, also identified as an adult female, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, according to Garcia.
Authorities do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, which marked the city’s 36th traffic-related fatality of the year.
