SAN JOSE — A woman who was hit and killed by a vehicle in Japantown earlier this month has been identified by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office as Teresa Jacob, 81, of San Jose.

The collision was reported just before 4 p.m., Nov. 6 at the intersection of Taylor and Sixth streets.

Jacob and another 81-year-old woman were walking across Taylor in a crosswalk when they were hit by a white 2018 Subaru traveling westbound, according to San Jose police.

The women were rushed to a hospital, where Jacob was pronounced dead a few hours later.

The other woman’s injuries were described by police at the time as non-life threatening.

The driver of the Subaru, a 33-year-old San Jose man, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Police do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role.

The collision marked the 39th traffic fatality of the year in San Jose.

Anyone with information about the crash can contact Detective Brian McMahon at 408-277-4654.
