Lesson 1: Don’t open the gate if you don’t want the sheep to come in.
Lesson 2: If you do open the gate, make sure you have your tambourine.
The Russo family in Lincoln, northeast of Sacramento, ended up with a stinky yard and a viral video after the run-in with livestock.
It began when Scott Russo opened the back gate so his little girls could see the weed-abatement sheep grazing in the adjacent greenbelt. Maybe it was the party lights or the wading pool or the lush green lawn, but something incited most of the herd — dozens of sheep — to stream into their yard.
In the chaotic video, the animals fail to respond to the stern words of Russo’s wife — “Go now. I’m serious. I’m telling you right now.” But when she starts banging a tambourine while jumping on a trampoline, they apparently decide the scene has gotten too weird and they turn tail, leaving behind only a barnyard smell.
