WHO reports over 468,000 new daily cases of COVID-19

A total number of infections pushed to 99,86 million

GENEVA, January 28. /TASS/. More than 468,000 new cases of novel coronavirus have been confirmed globally in the past 24 hours, pushing a total number of infections to 99,86 million, the World Health Organization (WHO) said in its daily bulletin on Wednesday.

According to the WHO updates, the coronavirus-related deaths increased by over 12,800 to exceed 2.14 million.

As of 18.35 Moscow time on January 27, as many as 99,864,391 coronavirus cases and 2,149,700 coronavirus-related deaths were registered across the globe. The number of confirmed cases grew by 468,808 in the past 24 hours and the number of fatalities increased by 12,856.

The WHO statistics are based on the officially confirmed data provided by countries.

South and North America account for more than 45% of new COVID-19 cases submitted to the WHO in the past 24 hours (211,53). Europe goes second (179,917 cases) followed by South East Asia (28,732).

Most COVID-19 cases are recorded in the United States (25,050,308), followed by India (10,689,527), Brazil (8,871,393), Russia (3,774,672), the UK (3,689,750), France (3,029,792), Spain (2,629,817), Italy (2,485,956), Turkey (2,442,350), Germany (2,161,279), Colombia (2,027,746), and Argentina (1,874,801).
