A 15-year-old boy has died after being shot earlier this week in Central Park Heights, Baltimore police said.
The boy was pronounced dead Saturday afternoon at a local hospital, they said.
Police identified the teen on Monday as Jaileel Jones.
The teen was one of five young people who were shot in the past week in Baltimore, ranging in age from 10 to 17. Police say he was shot Thursday in the 5100 Block of Chalgrove Ave., just south of Pimlico Race Course, after an argument escalated.
At a news conference Friday, Mayor Brandon Scott called the violence unacceptable and said he would hold city agencies accountable for providing better services for youth. The mayor, who grew up in Park Heights, said he was particularly disturbed by the Chalgrove Avenue shooting.
“For me that one was particularly chilling because I spent a lot of time in the 5100 block of Chalgrove,” said Scott, a Democrat.
Detectives asked anyone with information to contact them at 410-396-2100 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7Lockup.
