PITTSBURG — A hail of bullets were fired in two separate drive-by shootings captured on surveillance video at the same housing complex, one showing two people running for their lives.
Police are asking for the public’s help in finding the shooters.
The shootings, which appear to be straight out of a stereotypical Hollywood move, occurred Monday and on May 5 in the El Pueblo Housing complex in the 800 block of El Pueblo Avenue.
The first shooting happened during the day.
Police did not say whether the gunfire injured anyone, although the targets of the first shooting appeared in the video to get away. It is unknown if the shootings are related, police said. At this point, police said they don’t believe the shootings are random.
Police removed the video from social media circulation later Thursday morning.
The Monday shooting happened at 10:52 p.m. Black-and-white surveillance camera video showed a car going west, and somebody emerging from a passenger side window with a gun. It appeared two people fired shots, one of them from the driver’s side and the other from the passenger side.
The sound of the video indicates they fired at least a couple dozen shots.
Nobody could be seen on the street in the video.
In the first shooting May 5, a silver compact car going in the opposite direction shot at a car along the curb, just as a male was getting into it. He ducked behind a door and then ran for his life as a bullet hits the grass a few feet from the car. A second male also exited the rear door or the car on the curb and ran away.
The driver of the suspect car got out of the vehicle and continued to shoot after the two they targeted are out of site of the surveillance video. A passenger also openedhis door and fired.
That shooting was captured in color video from the same security cameras at 6:02 p.m.
In both shootings, the cars with the shooters raced away.
Police appealed to the public to contact Det. Christopher Chavez at 925-252-4841 if they have any information.
