Authorities on Wednesday identified men who died in two Contra Costa County homicides that happened less than 48 hours apart.
The second of those incidents was a fatal shooting outside a liquor store in Antioch around 2:15 p.m. Monday. Authorities identified the victim as 50-year-old Victor Coleman II, of Antioch.
Police responded to reports of gunfire at the Deltafair shopping center in the 2900 block of Delta Fair Boulevard. Coleman had been shot at least once, police said. He died at the scene despite life-saving measures from officers.
Witnesses told dispatchers a vehicle sped away after the shooting, but police have not released any information on either a vehicle or suspect.
Two days earlier, police in Concord were called to a stabbing on Bennett Way around 6:30 p.m. Saturday and found a man with several wounds. He went by ambulance to John Muir Hospital in Concord but died there.
Authorities identified him as 31-year-old Thomas Arellano, of Martinez.
Police said Arellano and another person had an argument that preceded the stabbing. Police are investigating but have not publicly identified any suspects.
