Putin shared his assessments of situation around Ukraine with Maduro — Kremlin

The phone conversation took place on the initiative of the Venezuelan side

MOSCOW, March 1. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin in a phone conversation with his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro shared his assessments of the situation around Ukraine on Tuesday, the Kremlin press service said.

"[Russian President] Vladimir Putin shared his assessments of the situation around Ukraine, stressing that the objectives of the special military operation are the protection of the civilian population of Donbass, Kiev’s recognition of the DPR and the LPR, as well as the Russian sovereignty over Crimea, demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine ensuring its neutral and nuclear-free status," the statement says.

The phone conversation took place on the initiative of the Venezuelan side.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a televised address on February 24 that in response to a request by the leaders of the Donbass republics he had made a decision to carry out a special military operation. The Russian head of state stressed that Moscow had no plans of occupying Ukrainian territories.
