Former Canucks captain and all-around good guy Bo Horvat has listed his Vancouver home for $5.599 million.

According to realtor.ca, the home on the 4400-block of West 11th Avenue in Point Grey was listed on Feb. 21, 2023 — three weeks after Horvat was traded to the New York Islanders in the midst of a career season for the centre — with 31 goals and 23 assists.

Since the trade, Horvat has scored five goals and four assists in 19 games — with just an assist to show for the past five games. His deal with the New York Islanders is worth $68 million over eight years, and came after a six-year deal with the Canucks that paid him $33 million.

Horvat, 27, signed with the Canucks in 2014 and soon purchased a townhouse in Yaletown, which he sold in 2018 after asking $1.9 million.

The Yaletown sale came after signing his big Canucks contract in Sept. 2017.

According to government records, Bowie William Horvat purchased the Point Grey property in December 2020 for $4.95 million, and it was assessed at $4.421 million as of July 2022.

The ten-year-old 3,632 square foot Craftsman style home sits on a 40 by 122 foot lot. It has a three-car garage and putting green, with four bedrooms and five bathrooms.

The listing appears to be staged, so there are no family photos or Canucks memorabilia to be seen. It does, however, have a fully equipped gym in the basement and a large movie room.

The new owner will have to pay around $17,000 a year in property taxes.

At a quick glance, New York real estate doesn’t seem much more affordable than in Vancouver.

For US$3.1 million — and about ten kilometres west of the UBS Arena, where Horvat now plays — is a home quite similar to the one in Point Grey.

The New York home in the prestigious Kew Gardens neighbourhood is around 3,700 square feet, with five bedrooms on a similar-sized lot.
