Lansdowne lost its chance to win its division with a loss to Patapsco on Tuesday, so the Vikings regrouped and celebrated senior night with a 15-1 victory over Owings Mills.

The Vikings finished the regular season 10-2 with their only division loss coming against Patapsco.

“We had a favorable schedule, but we did upset Loch Raven. We had a favorable schedule and things clicked,” Lansdowne coach Raul Gordon said.

They really clicked Friday night as senior co-captains Justin Myers (three goals, four assists) and Jake Howard (five goals) led a precision attack.

“Offense was moving around, we had a really good warmup, offense has been developing all year. This game we just really clicked and everybody moving and being in the right spot,” Howard said “It’s just really important getting everybody open and shooting the ball.”

Myers had two goals and two assists in the first quarter when the Vikings built a 6-0 lead.

“It feels great, it’s nice to have everything click our last year, everything come together. Hopefully we can make it click in the playoffs,” Myers said.

Owings Mills had chances throughout the game, but they hit some pipes and Lansdowne goalie Dylan Simmons (seven saves) was flawless.

“We are just trying to teach our guys to play team lacrosse and pass first and unfortunately the pipe was our biggest enemy tonight, I think we hit the pipe three times,” Owings Mills coach Kyle Gillum said. “I would definitely would like to see a few more goals up on the board there, but it is what it is. This was our best offensive showing as far as passing and hitting the goal.”

Ryshawn Byrd, who did stellar faceoff work for the Eagles, had a golden opportunity to break the shutout with 7:10 left in the first half, but his shot on the doorstep was rejected by Simmons.

The Vikings took a 12-0 lead into halftime and coasted home with a running clock.

“When all the units work together and we actually show heart, I think we can beat anybody,” Gordon said.

Owings Mills (1-9) finally got on board when Alex Noguera converted a feed from Charles Elendu with 2:44 left in the game.

“They have some talented players and we are still learning as a team,” Gillum said. “Our most experienced player only has four years experience. We are just trying to learn basics and get better every single day. That’s our goal out there.”

Lansdowne, who doesn’t have a home field because of construction for a new campus, celebrated seven seniors after the game at Catonsville High.

“I’ve been lucky, this group that came in my first year coaching,” Gordon said. “I brought in a good group and we just jelled and I couldn’t be any happier for these guys because I know they are going to do great outside of sports and high school.”
